Dug og viskestykker - Tablecloth and dishtowels

"Neeejjj, vi har fået nye viskestykker."

"Ooooh, we've got new dishtowels."

                                     
 " - Og en ny dug. Hvor bliver her fint!
Åh hvor jeg glæder mig til vi skal sidde her og hygge os!"

" - And a new tablecloth. This is going to look so nice!
Oh, I can't wait to sit here with pettson and "hygge!" *

(* "Hygge" is a danish word that pretty much embraces everything nice, cozy and comfortable in the world :o) It's very hard to describe, and it's a word that, as far as I know, does not exist in any other country. It kind of describes a state of mind, or atmosphere, like being surrounded by frinds, laughing, eating good food or having something to drink. Or being with loved ones christmas eve. Candles are also very often associated with "hygge" :o) I hope this explains "hygge" well enough for you guys. I tried writing "have a good time" instead of "hygge", but somehow, that just doesn't cut it, hehe)

Jeg har malet den fjerde væg, og er ved at fikse vinduerne.

I've painted the fourth wall and I am about to fix the windows.

"Ja så er jeg klar til at tørre af. Jeg mangler bare en til at vaske op:"

"Now I'm ready to dry the dishes. I just need someone to wash them up first."

Jeg har ledt efter stof, som kunne ligne det, som Peddersens dug var lavet af, men det lykkedes ikke at finde det. Det endte med, at jeg tegnede røde striber på kryds og tværs, på noget hvidt stof. På den måde fik jeg lavet både viskestykker og en dug til bordet.

I've been looking for fabric I could use for Pettsons tablecloth, but I couldn't find any. I ended up drawing red stripes in a ckeckered pattern on some white fabric. I made both the tablecloth and the dishtowels this way.

Så har jeg lavet Peddersens komfur og et skab med plads til gryder og bukler, som har egen indgang i siden af skabet.

Here I've made Pettson's stove and a cupboard for pots and pans and those funny little creatures that only Findus can see (Muckles) - they have their own entrance on the side of the cupboard.

Findus skal lige mose et broccoli.

Findus is just about to mash a broccoli.

"Her kan jeg da godt lave en hule sammen med buklerne, og så kan Peddersen aldrig gætte hvor jeg er. Ha ha haaaarrrrrr!"

"This is a nice place for a secret hide-out for me and the muckles. Pettson will never guess where I've gone! Ha ha haaaarrrr!"

"Åh jeg roder jo sådan. Jeg må hellere få ryddet op inden jeg får ballade!"

"Oh, I've made quite a mess. I better get this tidied up before I get in trouble!"

"Puha... Det var meget at rydde op for en lille kat som mig!"

"Phew... That was a lot of tidying up for a little cat like me!"

"Mon buklerne vil lege?"

"I wonder if the muckles want to play?"

"Jeg håber de er hjemme!"

"I hope they're home!"

"Hm... Det er de nok ikke så.......!"

"Hm... I guess they aren't........!"

Det foreløbige køkken. Jeg skal ha' lavet ildstedet, hvor komfuret skal stå, men jeg skal lige finde ud af hvordan jeg skal bære mifg ad. Er her nogle som har lavet et kalket ildsted? Måske kan jeg bruge lågene fra æggebakker? Har I andre forslag, vil jeg meget gerne høre dem!

This is the kitchen so far. I need to make the fireplace where the stove is going to be, but I have to figure out how to make it first. Have any of you guys made a whitewashed fireplace before? I'm thinking I might be able to use the lids from egg trays? If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them!
